Without Defense collecting gold and elixir/ dark elixir would be nothing, to secure attackers from raiding your base you definitely need to upgrade your defense to avoid from getting raided, Here are some tips on getting the perfect or just to consider the best defense.

Defense Upgrade Priority for Town Hall 8

1) First off the list would be the Archer Tower.

Why the Archer Tower? Because it can target both Air and Ground troops aside from it can target both troops, The Archer Tower have longer range than the Cannon, Although it can only target one troop at a time.

2) Second off from the list would be the Wizard Tower.

Why the Wizard Tower? Because of its AOE (Area of Effect) Damage which can almost 1 hit every level 6 tier 1 troops such as the barbarian and archer and its much better than the mortar because of its attack speed and can target both air and ground troops too, although it lacks range, for maximizing its capability you can put it together with storages in order for Wizard Tower to get free hits.

3) Third off the list would be the Mortar.

Why the Mortar? Because of its Splash Damage from its Shell and can almost 1 hit level 6 tier 1 troops, although it can only target ground troops while possessing wide range to get rid of enemies, don't let enemies get close to it because the mortar won't be able to attack from close range.

4) Fourth from the list would be the Air Defense.

Why the Air Defense? Actually you can upgrade it first one at a time because your village will be weak if you upgrade the Air Defense simultaneously. Air Defense can prevent almost any Flying Troops make sure it's maxed out to notice efficiency aside from it you can partner it with the Air Sweeper to maximize it's efficiency.

5) Fifth off the list would be the Cannon.

 Why the Cannon? Aside from it's single target attack and can only target ground troops, most of attackers only uses tier 1 troops such as the Barbarian and the Archer, so that's why it's ranked to the last and its upgrade cost is the cheapest from all the said defenses.

6) Last from the list would be the Hidden Tesla.

Why the Hidden Tesla? It can also be a trap that can attract defense priority troops such as the Giants, Balloons, Hog riders, and Golems. The Hidden Tesla also appears when the attacker achieves 51% damage to the village, aside from its fast attack speed it can also attack both air and ground troops.

Important Tips:

• Only upgrade one defense type at a time (ex. Upgrade 1 Cannon, 1 Archer Tower, 1 Wizard Tower 1 Mortar.)

• Leave only 1 Builder if you need to upgrade walls.

• Always upgrade at least 1 Hidden Tesla at a time because it takes 32 days to upgrade all Hidden Tesla's in Town Hall 8.

• Always consume gold and elixir to prevent from getting raided.
